Why We Built a Tech Brand for People Like Us
Hey everyone — I’m writing this from a café in the heart of Barcelona, where James and I are currently posted with our laptops, flat whites, and a work set‑up we’ve always dreamed of. We’re the founders of Scapade, and the easiest way to think of us is as your travel‑tech BFFs.
We’ve been digital nomads for years, and as this lifestyle continues to explode, one thing has become painfully obvious: the gear we rely on every single day was not designed with people like us in mind. So, we built a brand to fix that.
What We Really Need
Let’s be real — most tech accessories aren’t made for anyone who lives and works on the move. We need gear that’s lightweight, durable, functional and reliable… and doesn’t look like it was designed in 2003.
Here’s what’s always in my pack:
- Portable chargers (because every airport outlet is occupied by someone charging their vape)
- Universal adapters (looking at you, Bali plug types)
- Noise‑reducing earbuds (coworking spaces get… spirited)
- Compact laptop stands (my chiropractor says thank you)
- An organiser for my tech (because tangled cords = emotional breakdowns)
And we want all of this to be stylish and ridiculously reliable — not just “good enough.” Because for digital nomads, these aren’t just accessories. We live through them.
That power bank helps me hit a deadline from a hammock in Tulum. That adapter keeps James charged up at a street café in Chiang Mai. This is why we design with intention — and build for quality, mobility and longevity.
There’s a growing tribe of location‑independent workers, freelancers, solopreneurs, remote employees and startup teams living their best Wi‑Fi‑powered lives. And our gear has to keep up.
So Why Did We Start Scapade?
Honestly? Because we were tired of carrying gear that didn’t carry us.
Because we’ve spilled coffee on one too many cheap chargers.
Because we believe in a future where you can work from anywhere — and your gear should make that easier, not harder.
Because this lifestyle is only getting bigger, and someone needs to build for it with intention.
If you’re a fellow nomad, a curious remote worker, or even a brand trying to understand where the next big consumer wave is heading — we hope this gives you something to think about.
We’re building the products we wish existed when we started. And if what we’re creating helps even one more person live a life untethered, then every late‑night sketch session and prototype is worth it.
Live Anywhere. Work Anywhere.
